What if you had to go spend the summer away from your friends because you are becoming a "troubled" child? What if you had to spend this summer with a pair of grandparents that you barely know? That is exactly what is happening to Charlie Bell. Ever since his father suddenly died, Charlie has been struggling with a lot in life, and he is taking it out on his mother. When Charlie's mom has had enough she decides they both need a break so she arranges for him to spend the summer with his grandparents, Charlie's dad's parents. Charlie is determined that he is not going to have a good time, especially since he is having to leave his two best friends, Skinny and CJ. Charlie has his comic books so he is hoping that will be enough to make it through. What he didn't expect was a granddad that teaches him a hard work ethic, a grandama that cooks the most amazing food, and a cousin that teaches him the true love of basketball. However, just when Charlie starts to get comfortable with his surroundings and is actually for the first time in months, trouble seems to follow him and he is taken away. Will Charlie learn how to rebound on the court as well as in life or will he let down his team, his family? This is a MUST read book for everyone. This is not a "boys" book or a "girls" book... this is an everybody book!!
Rebound is the prequel to The Crossover and tells the story of Josh and JB's dad when he spends the summer of 1988 with his grandparents. These books are written in poetry form and I have to give a warning about these books... once you pick them up make sure you have some time because you will not be able to put them down.
